Rough proposal for a comparative class on examples of creative pedagogy. Most of these will be in the context of artworlds one way or another -- whether primarily conceptual artist collaborations, rigorous challenges by x-disciplinary groups aware of these histories, or self-contained learning experiments by people who incidentally happen to be involved in art (however that's defined).
The goal of this course will be to get a sense of what these examples have to offer -- to any of us in other contexts, now -- with a particular interest in how some of these ongoing projects can dovetail or affect one another more directly than most are able to do currently. The Public School will be included but not the central focus.
This proposal was a discussed prior, but added partly in response to Week 6 in a year-long series of weekly conversations about "Plausible Artworlds": Teaching Artist Union and School of the Future. This general topic "autonomous information production" however makes up about one sixth of this year's planned weekly discussions. And there are so many more...
The number of examples that can emerge from this topic could get unwieldy pretty quickly. We also assume there are other TPS proposals along similar lines... let's try to connect those if possible, and gather as many examples as possible -- even if that's phase one of the course. Getting in-depth can be good too, but the emphasis should begin with the undeniable groundswell of work with a somewhat similar approach -- on alternative ideas and approaches for education, learning, information and knowledge.
